Wandering Wheels is an industry leading mountain bike guiding and coaching company based in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. We offer guided trips and tours, shuttle services, lessons, kids camps, and skills clinics.

Mountain Bike Instructor/Guide

We are looking for positive and energetic mountain bike guides and instructors to join our team this summer!

This is a part time seasonal position which may lead to full time, seasonal employment opportunities in the future. Applicants are required to have flexible schedules and the ability to pick up shifts upon short notice.

Certifications required include PMBIA Level 1, and 40 or 80 Hour Wilderness First Responder. Further training will be provided.

Job Type: Seasonal part time and full time positions available
Location: Revelstoke BC
Dates: May - September

Wage: $25-$30/hour
Plus tips and some meals
Commensurate with experience and availability

Duties Include:

  • Coaching local youth aged 5-15 in our popular kids mtb camps
  • Safely guiding guests through all styles and difficulties of mtb trails
  • Instructing mtb lessons in both private and group settings
  • Choosing appropriate terrain, effectively managing risk, and promoting a high level of trail riding etiquette
  • Shuttle driving/transporting clients to trailheads
  • General guest services - everything from telling jokes to repairing bikes

Job Requirements:

  • Valid 40 hour first aid certification
  • Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association (PMBIA) Certification Level 1 - or equivalent
  • Detailed knowledge of all Revelstoke and area mtb trails, trail systems, and shuttle access roads
  • Must be a strong and capable rider with a passion for mountain biking
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of bike maintenance and repairs
  • Must possess excellent communication and social skills
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as unsupervised

Other Assets Include:

  • PMBIA Level 2 Certification
  • 80hr WFR, OFA 3, or equivalent
  • Valid BC Class 4 Commercial Drivers License
  • Previous experience working in the mountain bike industry
  • Previous experience guiding and instructing mountain bikes
  • Previous guiding/instructing experience in other outdoor sports such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, watersports, etc.
  • Experience working with children and teenagers
  • Experience working around helicopters
  • Previous practical first-aid and risk management experience

Shuttle Driver / Trip Support

We are looking for positive, knowledgeable, and punctual shuttle drivers to join our team this summer!

Applicants are required to have flexible schedules and the ability to pick up shifts upon short notice. A class 4 driver's licence is required as well as a good understanding of Revelstoke’s trails, trail networks, and shuttle roads. First aid training is also an asset.

Job Type: Part Time, Seasonal
Location: Revelstoke BC
Dates: June - September

Wage: $20-$25/hour plus tips and some meals
Commensurate with experience and availability

Duties Include:

  • Shuttle driving clients to all of Revelstoke’s mtb trails
  • Safely driving gravel logging roads while fully loaded with bikes and passengers
  • Effectively loading and unloading bikes using our racking systems with keen attention to detail (must be able to lift 40lb bikes)
  • Setting up lunch spots and helping guides to facilitate our programs
  • Socialising with clients while driving
  • Cleaning and organising trucks
  • Communicating with guides and other road users via VHF radio

Job Requirements:

  • Valid BC Class 4 Commercial Drivers Licence
  • General knowledge of Revelstoke and area mtb trails, trail systems, and access roads
  • First aid training is a strong asset

Office Manager / Administrative Assistant

We are looking for a positive, social, and knowledgeable office manager to join our team this summer! In this fun and exciting position, the successful applicant would manage our day-to-day office and shop operations including answering phone calls and emails, communicating with riders from all over the world, taking bookings, giving information about Revelstoke trails and trail conditions, setting up and cleaning rental bikes, assisting our guide team with some “behind the scenes” operations of our business, and more!

This is a full-time seasonal position with 30-40 hours of work per week with the possibility of a regular Monday to Friday schedule.

Applicants must have good computer skills with the ability to create documents and PDFs, effectively use our email client, and the ability to learn the ins and outs of our POS system and booking software. The ability to write clear and concise emails using appropriate grammar and punctuation is an asset. Strong verbal communication skills are also a strong asset. Applicants must have an excellent understanding of the sport of mountain biking in general, as well as a good understanding of Revelstoke’s trail networks, and a general knowledge of the biomechanics of a bicycle including saddle height and cockpit setup and adjustments, as well as suspension setup and adjustments. Applicants must work well as part of a team as well as independently. Further training will be provided.

Wage: $22-$28/hour, commensurate with experience

Duties Include:

  • General customer service, shop management, and business representation
  • Managing customer bookings and inquiries via email, telephone, or in person
  • Updating and managing customer bookings in our reservation software
  • Assisting with a broad range of administrative duties including staff management, scheduling, various reporting and payroll
  • Setting up rental bikes for customers and showing how to use cockpit controls
  • Cleaning, lubing, and very basic maintenance of rental bikes
  • Running errands such as relocating shuttle vehicles, picking up supplies and food orders, transporting guides and other team members, cleaning shuttle trucks, performing other general errands and shop duties
  • Managing and maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the office

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills as well as using cell phone/applications technology
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Revelstoke and area mtb trails, trail systems and access roads - Must be able to give good trail descriptions and directions to visiting riders
  • Basic knowledge of bicycle bio-mechanics and suspension setup - must be able to effectively show rental customers how to use their cockpit controls and also set up air pressures and seat heights based on rider sizes
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence

Youth Mountain Bike Assistant

We are looking for positive, energetic, and outgoing youth mountain bike assistants to join our team this summer! This position is for students aged 15 and up, who are passionate about mountain biking and interested in an opportunity to explore working in the mountain bike industry.

Successful applicants would assist our team of lead guides and coaches in delivering a fun and safe riding and learning experience for younger students (age 5-12) in our multi-day kids camps. This is on-bike work which mostly takes place at Mt. Macpherson trails.

This is a part time seasonal summer position with casual working hours which may lead to full time, seasonal employment opportunities in the future. Applicants are required to have flexible schedules and the ability to pick up shifts upon short notice.

Applicants are required to utilise their own modern mountain bike, must be able to ride confidently and consistently on blue and black rated mtb trails, and must possess a good understanding of all local trail networks. Any first aid training and knowledge of basic bike repairs and maintenance are strong assets.

Job training will be provided.

Duties Include:

  • Helping lead instructors to manage large groups of kids in a wilderness environment
  • Helping with basic repairs and maintenance on kids bikes
  • Working and riding for up to 6 hours a day
  • Facilitating, demonstrating, and participating in bike games and skills drills
  • Being energetic, engaged, and encouraging with all of the kids in our programs
  • Acting as a “tail guide” on trails and effectively communicating with lead guides via two-way radio

Job Requirements:

  • A positive and helpful attitude with an eagerness to learn and contribute
  • A modern pedal friendly mountain bike in good working condition
  • Strong, safe, and consistent mountain biking skills on all levels of trails
  • Good knowledge of Revelstoke trails, specifically Mt. Macpherson
  • Previous experience working or volunteering with youth is an asset
  • First Aid training is an asset
