This clinic is ideal for mountain bikers with little to no singletrack riding experience. This clinic will help you build the confidence you need to get out there and ride!

Morning Focus: learning the basic fundamentals of riding, in a controlled area.

  • Line Selection
  • Safety and Trail Etiquette
  • Basic bike anatomy and sizing, how to use your gear, and what to be prepared for

Afternoon Focus: applying our new skills out on the trail.

This popular 2 day skills workshop is for intermediate riders who want to take their riding to the next level. Spend two full days at MacPherson learning advanced riding techniques and applying them on trail.

You will learn more advanced riding techniques such as:

  • Balance & Body Position, Pedal Positions
  • Braking Techniques and Selective Braking
  • Cornering, Berms, Bike/Body Separation
  • Wheel Lifts (front and rear), Bunny Hops, Small Jumps & Drops
  • Line Selection, Trail Scanning
  • Active Pressure Control- Pumping, Lifting, and Flowing

Skills and theory will be discussed and practiced in controlled areas as well as on trail, with plenty of time away from the parking areas. Please pack snacks, water, spare tube, tools/pump, etc to bring along for the day.

This clinic is designed to turn intermediate and advanced riders into experts, by focusing their attention on breaking bad habits and enlightening their riding with new skills. Riders in this clinic should be comfortable and capable of small wheel lifts, small bunny-hops and riding fairly sustained downhill trails. This session will encompass a lot of on the trail breakout lessons. The goal is to practice a lot and preach a little.

What you'll learn:

  • Bike Setup and Preparation
  • Increased Range of Motion - Proper body position, Neutral, Cruising and Attacking
  • Line Selection - Trail Scanning and how to utilize different line choices for different results - Fun vs. Race vs. Showboat!
  • Speed Control - Ever wondered where to pedal? How hard? Where should I be braking? Are skids really for kids!?
  • Direction Changes - we'll learn the difference between complete direction changes (corners), temporary changes and a bike vs. body direction change
  • Rock/log rolls
  • Riding Steeps
  • Finding 'Flow' on the trail
  • Rock gardens and roots!
  • Jumps and drops (pending group skill level)

We'll review how to set up for a jump or drop with the proper body position, speed, trail scanning, pumping, and flow. Practice skills in a safe environment then take it to the trails!

If you're an intermediate rider looking to gain more control and confidence on the steeper trails then this is the clinic for you!

Leave the boys in the valley and get heli'd up with Sylvie and Emily to one of the best descents in BC. Rip down 17kms of technical singletrack over 7000 vertical feet! You'll be blown away by the views,the expansive alpine terrain, and the scramble to the summit - all before you even start riding! You'll receive riding tips and coaching from Sylvie and Emily on the way down working on cornering, braking, and downhill positioning.

Enjoy a lunch break at an old ranger cabin before dropping into the forest and flowing through the rest of the trail to the valley bottom where you'll be treated to a cold beer and a shuttle back to town. Don't miss out on treating yourself to one of the best heli drops around!

*This descent is recommended for strong intermediate and advanced riders only.
*A trail bike with at least 5" of travel is required, an enduro or DH bike is highly recommended. Full face helmet, knee pads and elbow pads are also highly recommended.
